Virtual machines (VMs) are a way to divide a single computer into multiple virtual computers. This allows multiple OS, multiple software, and multiple applications to be installed on the same machine.
Virtual Machines have their own operating system and act as independent computers even though they are running on a small portion of the underlying hardware.
